Sit Back and Let Him Work

“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.” — Romans 8:28, AMP

And we know.

There aren’t many things in which we can find assurance, but the one thing we can be confident in is God and His ability to carry out every detail of our lives. And even though He is a sovereign God, things happen along the way to test our faith and trust in Him.

The issues of life may catch us off guard and rock our world, but nothing takes God by surprise. He is omniscient — all-knowing, all-seeing, and everywhere present — omnipresent.

He knows the plan and purposes He has set for our lives. How do we know? He told Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you” — I was acquainted with you. And so, it is the same for us.

Just as David exclaimed, in Psalm 139:15, our frame was not hidden from Him when we were made in secret. God saw us before we were born. Every day of our lives was recorded in His book. And every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. (Psalm 139:16, NLT)

What happens in life may not always be good, but God can use it for His good.

There’s a saying that says, “He may not have caused it, but He can use it.”

“Nothing is wasted.”

God can use any and everything to achieve His ultimate plan and purpose. Therefore, our stance in the grand scheme of things is to be seated in Him.

This past Sunday, our Praise Team sang a song by Deon Kipping entitled, God, Is Working. The bridge (and I hope I’m using the correct terminology) of that song is:

(So) Sit back and let Him work

Let go and let Him work

Pray and let Him work

Let Him work in your life

So, sit back and let Him work.

To walk in total confidence, we’ve got to, first of all, rest in Jesus and allow God to work in our lives. James put it this way, “When your faith is tested, it stirs up in you the power of endurance. And then, as your endurance grows even stronger, it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.” (James 1:3–4, TPT)

Let go and let Him work.

When we keep our hands tightly closed, we are blocking the way to receive the blessings of God. A clutched fist holds on to whatever is lying in hand. And sometimes, the things we are so desperately trying to hold on to aren’t good for us. So, we have to do as 1 Peter 5:7 instructs us and “Cast all our cares upon Him” because guess what? He cares for us.

Pray and let Him work.

Thirdly, we’ve got to stand on God’s promise quoted in Jeremiah 33:3. “Call to Me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” As much as we try to know, we do not know everything. Somethings are only revealed by the Holy Spirit, and prayer is the main avenue through which things are revealed. Through prayer, God will tell us the who, when, where, and how — His strategic plan for breakthrough. Then, once the strategy is released, we can move out in confidence, knowing that His words will accomplish all that He purposed them to do if we walk in obedience.

Let Him work in your life.

God constantly works behind the scenes making sure that the worst situations work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

His only requirement of us is that we love Him — love Him with all our heart, mind, and soul.

So, the question is, do you love Him today? How much so?

Just know that God is working, working in your life, and the finished product will be all that He wanted it to be.
