Seal of Approval

“And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You, I am well pleased.” — Luke 3:22

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the phrase, seal of approval as an action or statement that shows approval or official acceptance.[1] Taking this definition and applying it to our scripture for today, we’ll see God is putting His seal of approval on His Son.

He said, “You are My beloved Son; in You, I am well pleased.”

Children need words of affirmation from their parents. It helps build their confidence, validates their self-esteem, and gives them a sense of self-respect.

In the political arena, when a candidate runs for a seat in government, he seeks the endorsement or the seal of approval from someone who has clout in the system. And if that candidate gains that endorsement, voters are most likely to vote for them if their endorser is a reputable person.

If you think about it, we, as consumers, also give our seal of approval every time we rate a product, do a survey, or share our experience with a business. The stars we see on Amazon, on a product page, represent someone giving their seal of approval. The stars we see on a hotel’s listing on Google represent someone’s seal of approval.

When we walk in obedience, with a heart to please the Father, like Jesus, our seal of approval will come from heaven.

Nothing would please the Father more than to validate His earthly children before men. Doing so opens the door for the hearts of men to be turned back to the Father.

Reconciliation.

Today, I leave you with a meditation scripture. When you meditate on it this week, picture yourself standing before the Father and Him personally giving you His seal of approval.

You are His beloved.
