Sorry, Out of Stock – Out of Service

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” — Ephesians 3:20, NKJV

When the COVID-19 Pandemic started a little over a year ago, we began to see signs posted on store shelves reading, “Sorry, Temporarily Out of Stock.”

Just one week ago, we saw the signs, “Sorry Temporarily Out of Service” — a gas shortage.

All within a year, we experienced a lack of the bare necessities and a lack of service.

What in the world!

It was bad enough to have to shelter in because of a virus, but the possibility of sheltering in because there’s no gas is too much. It makes you wonder, what did we do to deserve this?

Too often, we rely on man’s capacity and capabilities rather than the vastness that lies in God.

As we grow and mature in Him, we come to understand that He never runs out of resources. We realize that His capacity is unlimited. We come to rely on scriptures like:

  • “And my God shall supply all [our] need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19, NKJV)
  • “The earth [is] the LORD’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.” (Psalm 24:1, NKJV)

And, when we have great expectations of what God can do, we add Ephesians 3:20 by saying, “God will do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think”. However, we stop here, leaving the conditional part of the scripture dangling: according to the power that works in us.

God can do and will do, but it’s according to the strength of the power or the ability that works on the inside of us.

It’s the power – the Dynamis (doo’-nam-is) – the inherent strength that resides within by virtue of its nature or that which a person exerts or puts forth.[1]

When it comes to the exceedingly abundantly, we have to put forth the force and authority of our faith — the nature of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us.

When we apply this inner power to the miraculous hand of God, we experience that which goes beyond the natural the supernatural ability of God.

It is a realm where the Holy Spirit has complete control in leading and guiding us if we allow Him.

For you see, the Holy Spirit will always send you to the store, send you to the gas station, or send you to where you need to be to get what you need. Thus, giving us the abundant life.

So, the next time your natural eyes see a potential lack, remember, you will always have access to as much of God as you have faith to receive; because it’s according to the measure of power that worketh in you.
